6 ‘Sneaky’ But Awesome Ways To Get Double Value From Private Piano Lessons

Do you feel that what you pay for private piano lessons are way too much?

But, still continue because you know you can’t find anything cheaper in your area?

Then you are going to love this post, because I am going to tell you exactly how you can double the value you receive without paying a dime extra.

Don’t worry, you will not be cheating your kids’ piano teacher, in retrospect you will be just helping increase the value he/she provides without asking him/her to do any extra work.

So really it is a win-win for all of you.

Ready?

Let’s get started.

Get A Head Start

This is a point that I simply cannot stress enough.

If your child hasn’t started learning piano as yet, first start with an online course and learn the basics.

Often the basics take the longest to learn. Therefore, by learning the basics with an online course, you can then head off to a teacher to learn the more advanced stuff.

For instance with my Read Music Notes and Play the Piano in 5 Days course (which you can get for FREE), you can help your child to read music notes and play at least four different songs, even if you’ve never touched a piano in your life.

Why not try it out?

Supplement Learning

There are many different components to learning to play the piano, like learning music theory, developing a musical ear, and composition to name a few.

Why not supplement musical learning with an online course and learn these components, separately, leaving the face to face piano teacher to only focus on your child’s mastery of the instrument?

My course 1 Year Homeschool Piano Curriculum teaches kids how to sight read, compose, expand their repertoire, rhythm and beat and develops their musical ear.

You can buy my course for a one time fee and use it concurrently with what the private piano instructor is teaching and have him/her focus on the playing aspect only.

This will enable your child to master the instrument much faster than if the instructor had to cover all other aspects.

Group Classes

You can either look for group classes to enlist your child in, thus reducing the cost of private piano classes, or you can create a group of your own.

The group can be of neighbourhood kids who are close in age and want to learn the piano, or kids in your household.

Double Time for 1.5 Times The Price

Instead of paying for 30 minutes of piano lessons weekly, why not ask the teacher if he/she will be willing to give 60 minute lessons bi-weekly.

Thus, you reduce the frequency, but increase the length per class.

So in effect you will be receiving the same amount of value.

If you travel to the music studio, then you will be saving quite a bit on gas and time.

On the other hand if the teacher visits you at home, he/she will be saving on travel costs and you can ask for a discount on the tuition.

Another alternative is to have a 45 minute class bi-weekly, this will reduce the cost of classes and help you save on transport as well.

Practice, Practice, Practice

I have stated this many times before, but I will say it again.

Kids who practice their instrument daily are likely to learn more quickly and master the instrument faster than those that don’t.

Therefore make sure your kids practice and don’t fall behind.

Don’t know how to make them practice?

Read these blog posts and implement the strategies I have suggested to have them begging for piano practice.

Be Creative

This can be as simple as using books and resources that you already have instead of purchasing new ones, asking your teacher for a family discount if you have more than one child learning to play the piano.

Other ideas include but are not limited to asking your teacher if your kids can have classes for a discounted rate, if they come at less popular times (early afternoon, or late in the evening etc). Bartering your services for free piano lessons or at least discounted piano lessons.

What do you think? Will you be using one of these strategies to reduce the price of your children’s private piano lessons?
