4 Unbelievably Easy Ways To Make Private Piano Lessons More Affordable

Is the one thing that is keeping your kids away from piano lessons, the cost?

Well then, you are not alone. Private piano lessons can be very expensive, and unfortunately the cost is what results in denying many kids the opportunity to learn to master this amazing instrument.

So in this post, I will hope to give you a detailed explanation of four different ways in which you can reduce the cost, and thus make private piano lessons a reality for your family.

Group Classes

This is one way to keep costs low.

Also with younger kids, group piano classes can be fun and less intimidating.

However, in order to be able to succeed at group classes, parental involvement is required and unless you are able to dedicate the time, it may not always be the best idea.

On the other hand, if you have a piano teacher that visits your home, and you have multiple kids, why not have two or more learn together? You can still do this even if your kids go to a piano studio. Provided the older kids are more responsible, the teacher will only have to focus on keeping the younger ones in line, which shouldn’t be too much of a hassle for a well trained teacher.

Double Up On Time

Another amazing way to reduce the price of private piano lessons is to double up on the time.

Say if your child has piano lessons for 30 minutes once a week, why not ask for 45 minutes every second week (bi-monthly, or fortnightly).

Thus, if you pay $30 for 30 minutes once a week, you will now have to pay $45 every second week (bi-monthly, or fortnightly), which works out to $90 per month, rather than the previous amount of $120 per month.

Some teachers may be willing to give a further discount, because it even reduces their cost of travel if they visit your home etc.

On the other hand, if you go to the piano studio, doubling up like this can also help reduce your transport costs and free up time on your schedule.

Supplement Classes With Online Learning

Online piano courses like my Read Music Notes in 5 Days and Play the Piano or the 1 Year Homeschool Piano Curriculum can be amazing primer courses and/or supplementary courses, which can help your child to get a head start in learning piano and even get to the advanced stages very fast, thus saving quite a bit of money for you on the long run.

Bonus – Practice, Practice, Practice

This is a no brainer.

Kids who practice piano daily, master the instrument a lot faster than those that don’t.

Hence they will learn a lot more in a lesser time (on the long run) and that in turn can be a huge cost saver for you over the years.
